Book online in under a minute, or call the room if you would rather talk to a person — someone is by the phone from 15:00 every day we are open. Tables of one to six can be booked online; anything larger we would rather arrange with you directly.

Two on Friday and Saturday — 17:30 and 20:15 — and the table is yours for two hours. Every other night there is one sitting and nobody is asked to leave.
Call us. We hold a table fifteen minutes on a quiet night and as long as we honestly can on a busy one, but after that it goes to the door.
The bar and the two window seats are held for walk-ins every night. If the calendar looks full it is still worth trying your luck at 17:30.
Free up to 24 hours before. After that we charge $30 a head, because a table of four lost on a Saturday is a real hole in a forty-two seat room.
Seven or more sit at the long table beside the fire. Call the room and ask for Marco — we will talk through a set menu and hold the whole end of the room for you. Groups of that size eat the feasting menu at $85 a head, which keeps the kitchen honest and the table talking rather than reading.
$40 a head to hold the date, taken off the final bill. Refundable up to seven days out.
Confirmed 48 hours before. We buy for the table on the day, so that is the number we cook for.
Groups of seven or more settle on a single account. Sort it out among yourselves on the tram home.
Forty-two seated, sixty standing, six weeks notice. Email us and Marco will walk you through it.
Write to us with the date, the number and roughly what the night is for. We answer the same day.
Email about a groupThere is a notes field on the booking form and we do read every one of them. These are the four that change what we do on the night.
Tell us when you book and again when you sit down. We can adapt most of the menu, but we cook over open fire in one room and cannot promise a trace-free kitchen.
There is a full vegetarian feasting menu at the same price. Vegan takes a day's notice and is worth asking for.
Birthdays, anniversaries, the end of something. We will not sing, but there will be a candle and a glass of something on the house.
Step-free from the Rathdowne Street entrance, including the bathrooms. Say so when you book and we will hold a table with room to move.
A month, to the day. The calendar opens at nine in the morning and Friday and Saturday tend to go the same week.
Can I request the fire table? You can ask and we will try, but it is the table everyone wants and we cannot promise it. The bar seats have the better view of the grill anyway.
Do you take walk-ins?Every night. The bar and two window seats are never booked out. Come at 17:30 for the best odds.
No. Half the room comes straight from work and the other half has clearly thought about it, and both are right.
Can we bring our own wine?Tuesday to Thursday, $25 a bottle, two bottles a table. If it is something special we will happily drink a glass with you.
What if we are only two and want to eat early? The 17:30 sitting is the quietest, the easiest to book, and the only time you will hear each other properly. It is our favourite service of the week.
